Overview
Post It in Oracle OPERA v5 lets you sell items configured for your property — such as snacks, drinks, sundries or toiletries — and take payment straight away, without a guest folio. Card payments go through Juno via the Oracle Payment Interface (OPI), with the card either keyed in or presented on the payment device.

What you'll achieve
After completing these steps, the Post It sale is paid by card and completed, with an optional receipt.
Before you start
- The articles you want to sell must be configured for Post It.
- At least one credit card payment type must be configured as CP (Chip and Pin).
- To use a payment device, the Chip & Pin Device Available check box must be selected for your workstation in OPERA (Configuration > Setup > Workstations).
Select the items
- From the Cashiering menu, select Post It.
- Select the articles to sell. Each article, its price and any taxes appear in the posting window.
- Select a credit card payment type that is configured as CP (Chip and Pin)..
Take the payment
Choose one of the following:
- Card presented by the guest: leave the Credit Card No. and Expiry Date fields empty and select Enter to activate the payment device. Ask the guest to insert, swipe or tap their card on the payment device.
- Card keyed in by staff: select the OPERA Payment Widget icon, or leave the card fields empty and select OK to key the card into the payment device. Then select Enter to process the transaction.
The authorisation window opens and a token is returned. When the transaction is successful, the Settlement window shows that the sale is completed.
Finish the sale
- Select Yes to print a receipt, or No if no receipt is needed.
- When the Sale Completed message appears, select OK to clear the Post It screen for the next transaction.
Expected result
The Settlement window confirms the sale is completed, and the Sale Completed message appears.
Troubleshooting
The payment device doesn't activate
Make sure the card fields in OPERA are empty — the device is only activated when no card details are entered. Then check that Chip & Pin Device Available is selected for your workstation under Configuration > Setup > Workstations.
The transaction is declined
OPERA shows a failed status with a decline response. Declines can be caused by insufficient funds, a card reported lost or stolen, or a lost connection to the bank. Ask the guest for another card.
