Overview
If an in-house guest wants incidentals charged to a different card from the one used at check-in, you can add that card to folio window 2 in Oracle OPERA v5 and authorise it on the payment device. The card is tokenised and authorised through Juno via the Oracle Payment Interface (OPI).
Applies to
| Product | Juno Hospitality Suite |
| Integration | Oracle OPERA v5 (on-premise) via Oracle Payment Interface (OPI) |
| Version | OPERA v5 |
| Audience | Front office |
What you'll achieve
After completing these steps, the alternate card is tokenised and authorised on folio window 2, separate from the check-in card.
Before you start
- The guest must be checked in.
- To use a payment device, the Chip & Pin Device Available check box must be selected for your workstation in OPERA (Configuration > Setup > Workstations).
- Decide which authorisation rule should apply to the alternate card.
Add the alternate card to window 2
- From the OPERA menu, select Front Desk > In House Guests.
- Search for and open the reservation.
- Select the horizontal ellipsis (…) next to the Payment type field.
- Set the payment type to CP, leave the Card Number and Expiry Date fields empty and select the authorisation rule you need.
- Select Window 2.
- Select Payment Type as CP and the Authorization Rule as needed.
- Select OK to save.
Authorise the alternate card
- Select Options > Credit Cards > Authorization.
- Select the alternate payment (CP) for window 2 and select Additional.
- Check the additional authorisation amount and select OK. This activates the payment device.
- Ask the guest to follow the prompts on the payment device to complete the transaction.
Expected result
The alternate card is tokenised and an authorisation is placed on it for window 2. Charges routed to window 2 can then be settled against this card.
Troubleshooting
The payment device doesn't activate
Make sure the card fields in OPERA are empty — the device is only activated when no card details are entered. Then check that Chip & Pin Device Available is selected for your workstation under Configuration > Setup > Workstations.
The transaction is declined
OPERA shows a failed status with a decline response. Declines can be caused by insufficient funds, a card reported lost or stolen, or a lost connection to the bank. Ask the guest for another card.
