Overview
A top-up authorisation adds an extra authorisation amount to an in-house guest's card in Oracle OPERA v5 — for example, when the stay is extended or spending exceeds the original pre-authorisation. The request goes through Juno via the Oracle Payment Interface (OPI). You can also check a guest's card history to see what has been authorised or charged.

What you'll achieve
After completing these steps, an additional authorisation amount is placed on the guest's card and recorded in OPERA.
Before you start
- The guest must be checked in with a card on the reservation.
Top up an authorisation
- From the OPERA menu, select Front Desk > In House Guests.
- Search for and open the reservation.
- Select Options > Credit Cards > Authorization.
- Select Additional.
- Enter the additional authorisation amount.
- Select OK. The authorisation window opens while the request is sent to the payment partner.
Check a guest's card history
Use this if a guest asks which amounts have been authorised or charged on their card.
- From the OPERA menu, select Front Desk > In House Guests.
- Search for and open the reservation.
- Select Options > Credit Cards > Credit Card History.
The Authorization History window opens.
Expected result
Once approved, the additional amount is updated in OPERA automatically and appears in the guest's Authorization History.
Troubleshooting
The transaction is declined
OPERA shows a failed status with a decline response. Declines can be caused by insufficient funds, a card reported lost or stolen, or a lost connection to the bank. Ask the guest for another card.
