Overview
In Oracle OPERA V5, you can add a card guarantee to a reservation when the guest isn't present — a Mail Order/Telephone Order (MOTO) transaction. With Juno connected through the Oracle Payment Interface (OPI), the card is tokenised, so OPERA stores a token instead of the full card number. You can enter the card in the OPERA Payment Widget or key it directly into the payment device.
Applies to
| Product | Juno Hospitality Suite |
| Integration | Oracle OPERA V5 (on-premise) via Oracle Payment Interface (OPI) |
| Version | OPERA V5 |
| Audience | Front office and reservations |
What you'll achieve
After completing these steps, a tokenised card is saved on the reservation as its guarantee.
Before you start
- The reservation must already exist in OPERA v5.
- MOTO transactions must be enabled for your property by your payment partner before you use either method.
- To use a payment device, the Chip & Pin Device Available check box must be selected for your workstation in OPERA (Configuration > Setup > Workstations). This applies to option B only.
Option A: Enter the card in the OPERA Payment Widget
- From the OPERA menu, select Front Desk > Arrivals.
- Search for and open the reservation.
- Select Edit.
- In the Payment field, select the payment type.
- Select the OPERA Payment Widget icon next to the Credit Card Number field.
- Enter the card number.
- Enter the expiry date in MMYY format.
- Select OK.
Option B: Key the card into the payment device
- From the OPERA menu, select Front Desk > Arrivals.
- Search for and open the reservation.
- Select Edit.
- In the Payment field, select the payment type.
- Select the OPERA Payment Widget icon next to the Credit Card Number field.
- Leave the card fields empty and select OK. This activates the payment device.
- Follow the prompts on the payment device to key in the card details.
Expected result
The card is saved on the reservation as a token. OPERA stores only the token ID, not the full card number.
Troubleshooting
The payment device doesn't activate
Make sure the card fields in OPERA are empty — the device is only activated when no card details are entered. Then check that Chip & Pin Device Available is selected for your workstation under Configuration > Setup > Workstations.
I can't copy the card to another reservation or the guest profile
This is expected. Tokens can't be copied from one reservation to another or saved to guest profiles. You can copy a token between windows on the same reservation.
