Overview
Delayed charges are payments for a guest who is no longer in house — for example a no-show fee, a late charge or a minibar charge found after check-out. In Oracle OPERA v5, you reinstate and reopen the folio, then charge the tokenised card on file or a new card through Juno via the Oracle Payment Interface (OPI).

What you'll achieve
After completing these steps, the delayed charge is paid and posted to the guest's folio.
Before you start
- You need a card on file, or the guest's agreement to pay by a new card as a Mail Order/Telephone Order (MOTO) transaction.
- MOTO transactions must be enabled for your property if you're charging a new card.
- For card-not-present delayed charges, make sure you have the guest's consent to charge the card.
Reopen the folio
- From the OPERA menu, select Front Desk > In House Guests.
- Search for and open the reservation.
- Select Options > Billing.
- Select Reinstate.
- Select Reopen.
- If you need to add a new charge, select Post and post it. If the charge already exists, skip this step.
Take the payment
With the tokenised card on file
- Select Payment. The tokenised card on file appears as the payment type, with the amount due.
- Select Post.
With a new card
- Select Payment.
- Select the OPERA Payment Widget icon next to the Credit Card Number field.
- Key the card details into either the OPERA Payment Widget or the payment device.
Expected result
The delayed charge is paid and the payment details are updated in OPERA.
Troubleshooting
The transaction is declined
OPERA shows a failed status with a decline response. Declines can be caused by insufficient funds, a card reported lost or stolen, or a lost connection to the bank. Ask the guest for another card. See
