Overview
Oracle Simphony lets you split a single check between multiple guests, so customers can choose how they'd like to pay without anyone reaching for a calculator. You can split a check evenly by the number of guests at the table, move individual items onto separate checks, or share a single item equally across all of the checks. This article walks through the steps shown in Oracle's own demonstration.

| Area | Point of sale — splitting a check between multiple guests |
| Audience | Front-of-house / service staff |
What you'll achieve
You'll have split a check into two or more separate checks, either evenly by guest count or by moving specific items onto their own check, and saved the split so each guest can pay separately.
Before you start
- You need an open check with items already on it.
Operational steps
- With the check open, go to the function screen and select more functions.
- Choose how to split the check:
- Split the check evenly by the number of guests sitting at the table, or
- Press add check to add another split (check) manually. Each check panel created this way gets its own unique identifier.
- Move items onto a specific check by tapping the product (for example, tapping an item and choosing a specific check moves it there), or distribute items across all of the checks.
- To split a single item equally between all of the checks, select that item (for example, a shared starter) and choose the option to share it equally.
- Once you're finished, press Save, then press Yes to confirm.
Expected result
The original check is now split into two or more separate checks, each of which can be paid individually.
