Overview

An root CA certificate confirms the authenticity and trustworthiness of encrypted connections and digital identities in Oracle environments, such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Oracle databases, and Java applications. If your systems don't already trust this certificate, connections to Oracle-operated services can fail. This certificate is required when installing Oracle Simphony SPI (Secure Payment Interface) on an on-premises deployment and Oracle on Premise. This article explains what the certificate is used for and provides a download link.

What you'll achieve

You'll have downloaded the DigiCert Global Root G2 certificate needed for your on-premises installation, so it can be added to your system's trust store.

What it's used for

• Identity verification (authentication): it verifies the authenticity of servers, compute instances, or hardware consoles (for example, Roving Edge Devices) that Oracle operates or provides.
• Secure connections (TLS/SSL): when a client — such as an application or a database client — connects to an Oracle database or cloud service, the system uses the root certificate to check that the certificate chain is valid. Without the certificate, the connection fails.

Expected result

You have the certificate file and can add it to your system's trust store as part of the installation.
